Proverbs are concise, well crafted and musical. They sum up a situation, an action or an idea in a single stroke, loaded with centuries of wisdom. They will be found mingled in everyday conversation, to illustrate or emphasize the message. The list below is far from exhaustive, but the most common English proverbs are included.
